Grants for safety
There are four funding programs a Massachusetts employer can realistically apply for. We have been an approved provider since 2009, and we complete the applications with you.
Where the money actually comes from
Two state programs, one federal, and one broader workforce fund. Most employers qualify for at least one and never apply.
Express Grant
For Massachusetts businesses with 100 or fewer employees that contribute to the Workforce Training Fund. Find our name in the vendor list Cook Professional Resources, Inc.
- Up to $15,000 per company, per year
- Up to $3,000 per employee, per course
- 100% reimbursed for companies with 100 employees
- 50% reimbursed for companies with 51–100 employees
DIA Safety Training Grant
Run by the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents to promote safe and healthy workplaces through training, education and preventative programs. Find our name in the vendor list Cook Professional Resources, Inc.
- Up to $25,000 per year for safety-specific training
- Annual application window — miss it and it is a twelve-month wait
Workforce Training Fund — General Grants
Provides resources to Massachusetts businesses to fund training for current and newly hired employees, aimed at productivity and competitiveness. Larger projects than the Express program, with a longer application.
Susan Harwood Training Grant
A federal OSHA programme funding training for workers and employers on workplace safety and health hazards — with a particular focus on underserved workers, low-literacy workers and high-hazard industries.
Availability, amounts and eligibility are set by the awarding bodies and change periodically. We confirm your current eligibility on the call before anything is submitted.

What employers ask us about grants
If your business pays Massachusetts workers’ compensation insurance and contributes to the Workforce Training Fund, you are likely eligible for at least the Express programme. We confirm it properly on the call.
It varies by program, and we will tell you honestly rather than guess. In many cases we can schedule your training while the application is still processing so you are not left waiting on the state.
No. We complete it with you as part of working together.
The state programs above are Massachusetts-only. We work with partners who have some funding available in Rhode Island and Connecticut, though it is smaller and less frequent. Ask us and we will tell you what is realistic.
The DIA funding, Susan Harwood are for safety related trainings and certifications. The Express Grant and Workforce Training while it generally does not approve safety related trainings to companies that are mandated to comply with those trainings, some are approved. Leadership and Development of your supervisors and managers is always a good place to start with an Express Grant.
